The 2014 Kentucky State Cross Country Meet was as good of a collection of 6 races that I have ever seen in my 20 years of attending state meets. There was excitement and mystery coming into the races, some of that played out as expected and then as always the surprises do happen. Before the KY State Meet, I posed the Top 12 Questions Going into the KY State XC Meet and now we get to see what really happened on these questions. Check out the next 12 slides a recap of the KY State Meet and how those questions played out.

Movers and Shakers from this past week.
South Oldham is hosting what looks like the premier middle school meet with only two weeks to go till the KTCCCA Meet of Champions.
In my opinion, the cross country season really isn’t in full swing until the ground crunches under your feet as you walk to your car on your way to the meet. For me, that day came today, as I left my house in Louisville to an outside temperature of about 38 degrees heading to the Hillbilly Run in Bardstown.

26 Insights into Week 2 of the XC Season
With the inland rains of hurricane Isaac looming over the Midwest, and already causing havoc for Cross Country in the Western portion of Kentucky, I was wondering how much of a factor the weather was going to play into today’s race. However, as I stepped out of my car and onto the course, the sun was covered by non-threatening clouds and the temperature was hanging around the upper 70s, a beautiful day for racing.
The Shelby County Invitational is annually one of the best meets of this weekend pulling several Louisville schools. The only question is will these schools actually run their full squads.

KYtrackXC.com Power 10 – September 30, 2011 These are the top best teams and individuals in the state of Kentucky regardless of school classification. These are not your typical rankings in the sense because without classes the KY State Meet would have more depth so a team’s 5th place runner in Class AA who normally scores well enough with a 18:00 is suddenly too far back to matter in a one class system. The need for top runner is similar, that is obvious it is just on an exaggerated scale.

I have been and ran in a lot of cross country meets in my life, but this past Saturday takes the cake as far as hot goes. It was nearly unbearable at 9am when the Varsity Boys Race started in Madisonville on Saturday. The same held true across the state as individual races were cancelled at Madisonville, Shelby County, and the Ryle Invitational’s. Last week I meant to mention a couple performances - Sye Head (Logan County) is the top KY runner at the KY-IN Border Clash - Nicholas Waltman (Sayre) is going to make Jacob Thomson work a little harder than first expected in November Below are some observations from Week 2
The first full week of cross country is in the bag for the state of Kentucky and it was a pretty solid start. Below are 16 observations from the week: (photo's by louisvillecatholicsports.com)
KYtrackXC.com is pleased to present the first set of Kentucky State Cross Country Rankings for the 2011 Season. These are not based on any automated time order. Instead they are taken from looking at various races from last season, especially the Kentucky State Cross Country Meet. With the loss of the Franklin County Invitational and the Lexington Catholic Invitational last year, there were less common races to try and compare the teams from different areas of the state. This left many of these teams only racing each other once at the Kentucky State Cross Country Meet. These team rankings along with individual athlete class rankings will be released every two weeks starting September 6, 2011.
