KY-IN Border Clash: O’Bryan Shatters Meet Record, IN’s Armand Prevails Dan Chelstrom Aug 29, 2013

Owensboro, Ky. – Kentucky-Indiana Border Clash 2013 typified the beginning to most prep cross country seasons; both races were instigated by crushing tempos from the gun.  These blistering paces were matched with equally hot temperatures, as the heat index preceding the 6 pm CT girls race was a stout 99 degrees (88 degrees, 68% humidity).  By coupling first race excitement with exotic conditions, western Kentucky and southern Indiana athletes, coaches, and fans experienced or saw performances under humid and oxygen debt filled circumstances.

The final meet of the weekend does not start until Saturday night.  The annual Raider Twilight Run hosted by Warren East in Bowling Green has a combination of teams that are looking to make a name for themselves.

  Michael Eaton is a 2006 graduate of Greenwood High School in Bowling Green.  Michael was a mainstay of the coverage during the first couple years of KYtrackXC.com when he was a two-time Foot Locker National Qualifier. During his high school years he won five Kentucky State Championships including setting the Kentucky State Record with a 15:05.  He also won Foot Locker South his senior year with a 14:46.  KYtrackXC.com is pleased to present the 6th annual KYtrackXC.com Outdoor Awards with a surprising mix of past winners and new names. The 2010 Kentucky Outdoor Season finished with a bang with the Kentucky State Track History Books being rewritten nearly every week. Let’s see this boom in competition continue on for years to come.  As with the past, there are three categories: Sprinter of the Year, Distance Runner of the Year, and Field Event Athlete of the Year. I Got Lost in the Wilderness at Franklin-Simpson Jonathan Grooms Oct 25, 2009

Saturday I made my first visit to Franklin, Kentucky for the Wildcat Wilderness Invitational at Franklin-Simpson High School.  This meet is the dream of Chris Young, former Allen County Scottville Class AA Kentucky State Cross Country Champion.  In just its second year this has quickly become a top notch meet with a course that is your typical run around a field or park.

The Annual Daviess County 6k Relay is taking placing this weekend and there are several quality teams and individuals involved. Apollo will bring their group in and go up against Trinity and Daviess County on the boys' side, while Eastern makes the trip to face off against Daviess County on the girls' side.

Stepping Out of a Shadow: Greenwood's Ryan Eaton Jonathan Grooms Aug 3, 2009

Ryan Eaton is a senior at Greenwood High School in Bowling Green.  He is the defending Class AAA Kentucky State Cross Country Champion and is also the two-time defending Kentucky state champion in the Class AAA 1600m.  He talks about his career and stepping out of the shadows of his brother, Michael, among other topics.

7 KY Schools to be Represented at the Mobile Challenge of Champions this Weekend Jonathan Grooms Apr 1, 2009

The Mobile Challenge of Champions is going to be run this Friday and Saturday in Alabama.  This event is typically one of the top meets in the Southeast this early in the season.  In fact three of Kentucky’s best performances ever have happened at this meet.  Owensboro speedster Casey Combest ran a 10.34 100m Dash in 1999, Jonathan Brown former Union County/Western Kentucky jumper leaped 24-03 in 1999 also, and Andy Fryman of Mason County/University of Kentucky threw 62-10 in the Shot Put in 2003.  All three of those performances are Mobile Meet Records.  This year looks to be no different with several Kentucky athletes making the trip south to compete.

Thirty-six teams (over 1000 runners) have entered this year’s Gatorland Run at Phil Moore Park, hosted by Greenwood High School.  Two undefeated runners will square off in the Boys Varsity race:  Ryan Eaton (Greenwood) and James Maglasang (St. Mary).

Super Sophomore Showdown at Marshall County Jonathan Grooms Oct 7, 2007

Sophomore's Ryan Eaton (Greenwood) and James Maglasang (St. Mary) battled it out Saturday at Marshall County High School with Eaton crossing the line first.  Greenwood wins the boys title, while the girls of Graves County won the team title in the other varsity race.
