Panther & Torch Games 2018

Winchester, KY

Meet Information

The Panther & Torch Games have been contested annually since 2005 at College Park Gym in Winchester, Ky. In typical years this event is the first indoor meet of the the Kentucky Track year. The meet has been canceled three years due to snow. Teams from Muhlenberg , Owsley, Clay, Mason, Scott and Jefferson Co. among others have competed in this event. The meet is named for the Kentucky Wesleyan University "Panthers" (1890's - 1950) and the Southeastern Christian College "Torches" (1950-1979) which both occupied the campus and competed at this venue. The 2018 edition of this meet was the first ever indoor meet which was contested solely between elementary teams in the Commonwealth of Kentucky (R.D. Campbell vs Stopher Elem.). Another feature making this meet unique is the addition of the old Indoor Track event of Tug of War. In the early days of Indoor Track such notables as West Points Gen. Patton competed at indoor track meets in which Tug of War was contested.
The Panther & Torch Games is designed to inspire a new generation of leaders in our great State of Kentucky and beyond.
