Meet Information
It's time again for the 3rd Annual Junior Colonels Race Series!
This is a 3 race series on Tuesdays, 9/12, 9/19, and 9/26 with the 9/26 race being a District Championship Race for local teams.
All local students from Kindergarten to fifth grade are invited to race. We will also have races for high school and middle school teams again this year! Races will be held at East Heights Elementary and all races are FREE to enter. We will have a Kindergarten Fun run, a 1K Race for 1st - 2nd graders, a 2K Race for 3rd - 5th graders, a 3K race for Middle School Runners (8th grade and under), and a 5K Race for High School Runners.
Top 10 runners in each division will receive ribbons.
Elementary school students will need to pre-register with the running club coach at their school and then coaches/PE teachers will need to register their teams on milesplit. On race day, elementary runners will need to check in beginning at 4:30, in the parking lot on the east side of the school to get their race numbers. Middle and High School teams will also need to register their teams using milesplit.
The high school race will begin at 5:00 and the remaining races will be on a rolling start, meaning that we will begin each race as soon as the prior one is finished. Race times listed are approximate: High School 5K race 5:00 p.m., Kindergarten Fun Run 5:30 p.m., 1st-2nd grade 1K race 5:45, 3rd - 5th grade girls 2K race 6:00, 3rd - 5th grade boys 2K race 6:15, Middle School 3K race 6:30. Please note that races may begin EARLIER than these start times, since we will move through as quickly as possible on a rolling schedule. Boys & girls will run together in all but the 3rd -- 5th grade races (traditionally the largest).
In the final race of the series, on 9/26, local 3rd -- 5th grade teams and local middle school teams will be competing for the title of Junior Colonel Cup District Champions!
NEW -- This year we will name Henderson All-County teams! The top FIVE Henderson County middle school boys and girls and the top FIVE Henderson 3rd -- 5th grade elementary boys and girls will be honored as First Team All-County. We will also honor the next FIVE 3rd -- 5th grade elementary boys and girls as Second Team All-County. All County teams will be determined based on each person's best individual race time of the series.
