Just in case anyone missed it, the KHSAA passed a new realignment in late July moving 30 schools around to different classes and even a few to new regions. The bulk of the movement centered around Class AA (lost 25, added 11.) Let's do some analysis at how those changes actually affect the outlook on the season.

This past weekend was strange, there were a ton of meets but nothing was really huge. There were some quality match-ups but even that was hard to decipher as many schools were missing runners. Fall break is part of it, minor injuries, and just simply being tired from all the racing over the last seven weeks.

In my opinion, the cross country season really isn’t in full swing until the ground crunches under your feet as you walk to your car on your way to the meet. For me, that day came today, as I left my house in Louisville to an outside temperature of about 38 degrees heading to the Hillbilly Run in Bardstown.

With the inland rains of hurricane Isaac looming over the Midwest, and already causing havoc for Cross Country in the Western portion of Kentucky, I was wondering how much of a factor the weather was going to play into today’s race. However, as I stepped out of my car and onto the course, the sun was covered by non-threatening clouds and the temperature was hanging around the upper 70s, a beautiful day for racing.
