Former Bethlehem Runner Angela Musk Named GLVC Runner of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS – Bellarmine University senior Angela Musk has been selected by the league coaches as the first Great Lakes Valley Conference Runner of the Week for the 2012 women’s cross country season, it was announced today.

Musk won the University of Southern Indiana’s Stegemoller Classic last week, covering the 4K course in a personal best time of 14:28.  The New Hope, Ky., native ran a controlled race by letting the pace come back to her before moving through the field and on to a 14-second victory over runner-up Erika Wilson of USI.

Musk’s efforts helped BU score a second-place finish in the event with 43 points.

The weekly honor is the Musk’s second of her career as she was honored on Sept. 20, 2011.  She is the first Bellarmine runner to earn the award since Emily Frith on Oct. 11, 2011.

Bellarmine returns to the turf on Saturday, Sept. 8, as the Knights travel to Kenosha, Wis., to participate in the UW-Parkside Midwest Open at 10 a.m.
