Louisville Holy Cross and Class A State Champion Jacob Thomson will head to Terre Haute for the Terra Haute State Preview against many of Indiana's best runners. Thomson, 2011 Foot Locker Finalist opened his season last week with a win at Tiger Run with a 15:27.
He is the favorite to win with his competition being Connor Sorrells (Barr-Reeve) and Troy Reader (Hamilton Southeastern.) Sorrells visited Kentucky multiple times during track including the Invitational of the South and Eastern Relays. He was just four seconds behind Thomson in the stacked 3200m last year with a 9:02. He followed that up the next day with a 4:16 in the 1600m. Reader opened his season last week with a 15:36 after running a 4:09 to finish 2nd in the 1600m at the Indiana State Track Meet. This should be a great race.
Holy Cross's girls are not too shabby themselves as they were the top Class A girls squad at Tiger Run led by Karly Gawarecki in 7th with a 19:39. The girls squad should jump up big in the Class A Rankings next week.
