Eaton runs a 9:11 2 mile at the Wildcat Classic

Because I was unable to attend the track meet in Lexington, my colleague
Charlie Shoulta called to detail the results. When he told me Michael
Eaton ran a 9:11, all I could say was \"Wow!\" After Eaton\'s performance
last Saturday, I asked Michael via email what some of his goals were and
if he thought he was ready to run this fast this early. His reply, \"It
was definitely a lot faster than I thought I\'d be running right now. A 15
second PR the first race of the year is exciting. I can\'t wait to see how
this season goes.\" Eaton will be running in the 2006 USA Junior Cross
Country Championships in New York on February 18. This is an 8k race.
Eaton said the extra training for the race in New York was making a
difference. \"I\'ve done tons more base mileage than I\'ve ever done for
track before, and it seems to be helping.\" As far as his goals for the
season, he told me \"My goals for the season have changed in light of this
weekend. An 8 minute something two mile is a for sure goal of mine now.
I\'m also interested in what I might be able to do a mile in. I\'m just
really excited about getting out there and running some awesome races.\"
