2010 XC Season Begins to Ramp Up

Rushville Invite, IN:  The Pre-season US#1 Columbus North boys certainly looked the part here.  They rolled to a 15 point victory off of a 27-second spread.  Christophe Kelsey led the way with a time of 15:55.15.  The Columbus North girls were also impressive, winning with 16 points off of the 19:22.45 winning time of Rachael Sollman. 

 

 

Revere Invite, OH:  Hannah Neczypor, North Royalton OH, rolled to a 17:57.94 victory to win by nearly a minute.  She is certainly fit for the 2010 season!  Josh Sabo, Revere, won the boys race with a time of 15:46.08.  Medina OH boys looked solid, winning with 45 points off of a 16-second spread from 16:15.42 to 16:31.68.  Bob Schul Invite, OH:  Jordan Redd, Fairborn, rocked the boys 5000 meter race with a time of 15:16.30, the only time under 16 on the day. 

 

 

American Fork Grass Relays, UT: American Fork boys, preseason US#4 in the Harrier rankings, dominated this relay meet with a new record time of 52:14, over 2 minutes better than the 2nd place team.  In the 5x2 Mile relay American Fork was led by individual winner Austin West, 10:02, and 3rd place finisher Clayton Young, 10:19.  The course has 4 hay bale jumps and was held at 4670 feet on a 1 mile loop, making the results even more impressive.

 

 

Stillwater Intra-Squad Twilight Meet, MN:  Stillwater boys sported an impressive 1-2 punch and impressive depth from a young squad in what was effectively just a time trial.  Soph Wayde Hall won overall with a time of 15:50 over Tom Linner, 15:54.  Brett Parendo was 3rd in 16:27, Eric Colvin was 4th in 16:30, and Jack Keller was 5th in 16:34 for a 44 second spread.  The top-7 were under 16:41.   

 

 

Digger Invitational, ID:  Alice Keller, Salmon ID, won the girls race with a time of 18:50.38.  Richard Kennedy, Rigby ID, won the boys race in 16:16.61.  At the Jimmy Driscoll XC Invite Rachael Tatko, Eagle ID, won the girls race with a time of 19:03.47 while Andres Jaramillo, Vallivue ID, won the boys race in 16:03.42.

 

 

Yesterday at the Carmel XC Invite, IN, Carmel girls looked very strong with 3 girls under 19 minutes and their 4th girl at 19:12.  Sarah Bennett, Carmel, won the race with a time of 18:47.70.  Brebeuf Prep Invite, IN:  The XC season is underway and there is already some hot action in Indiana!  Futsum Zeinasellassie, North Central IN, won his first invitational of the year with a time of 15:52.60.  Chris Walden, Carmel IN, was 2nd with a time of 15:57.62.  At the Huntington North Invite Brianna Johnson, Carroll IN, won with a big 18:46.50.  Teammate Bradley Hess won the boys race with a time of 15:45.20.  Also in Indiana, at the Brebeuf Prep Early Bird Invite, Jason Hoard, Bebeuf Prep IN, won with a time of 15:56.56.  At the Dekalb Invite Brianna Johnson, Carroll IN, won the girls race with a time of 19:07.35.  James Martin, Carroll, won the boys race in 15:59.46.     

 

 

Bob Blastow Early Bird, GA:  Lakeside,Evans teammates Anna Bowles and Katie Townsend rolled to a 1-2 finish with quick times of 18:07.85 and 18:15.69.  Zack Sims, Eagle's Landing, won the boys race with a time of 15:36.12. 

 

 

Space Coast Jamboree, FL:  Shelby Davidson, Cocoa Beach FL, won her season-opener with a time of 18:28 to take 1:07 off of her PR from last year.   

 

 

Tiger Run Invite, KY:  In-depth Recap Here | Red hot times out of Kentucky as Jake Wildenmann, Trinity KY, won a smoking boys race 15:21.31 to 15:21.83 over Jacob Thomson, Holy Cross KY.  Emma Brink, Sacred Heart Academy KY, started off the season right with a big win in the girls race with a 18:24.22 effort that put her 40 seconds up on 2nd place.  

 

 

Mariner Invite, MI:  Some fast early-season times are coming out of this state with soph Hannah Meier, Grosse Pointe South MI, showing that she is fit, after running 2:08 this past track season.  She won the girls race with a 18:48 effort over teammate Christina Firl, 18:58.  At the Eldon Pete Moss Invite Ali Wiersma, Allendale MI, won the girls race with a swift 18:36.  Pinckney boys dominated with an 18-point win and 5 out of the top-7.  Zac Meston won in 16:32.  At the Greater Kalamazoo Invite Alex Standiford, Mattawan MI, won the boys race with a time of 16:09 while Makenzie Evers, Plainwell, won the girls race in 19:26.  Caleb Rhynard, Sheperd MI, rolled at the Chippewa Hills Warrior Invite with a 15:46.46 victory.  Megan O'Neil, Chippewa Hills, won the girls race in 19:35.84.       

 

 

Great Meadow Invite, VA:  Meet write-up | Lowery interview | All Video | Photos | Hannah Lowery, Stafford VA, blazed to victory in a time of 18:35 with a gap of 51 seconds back to 2nd place.  Colin Leibold, Gonzaga DC, won the boys race with a time of 15:54.  At the Clash with the Titans Invite VA #1 Blacksburg boys & Harrier US top 25 ranked Hidden Valley girls competed but neither ran all of their top kids as Hidden Valley girls sat out top 2 runners and Blacksburg boys sat out top 5. Blacksburg boys and girls sweep team titles despite sitting out top runners. Erin Wheeler of Northside (18:14 5K on the track last spring) broke the course record on a challenging and slow course in 20:04. 

 

 

WNC CC Carnival, NC:  Thomas Graham, Cary NC, rocked the boys race with a blazing 15:28 5k time to finish 38 seconds clear of 2nd place.  Chapel Hill ran an impressive boys team race, winning with 48 points off of a 16:25.03 average and a 19.60 1 to 5 spread.  Haylee Dawe, Charlotte Latin, won the girls race with a time of 18:48.62.  Fast times were also produced at the Providence Invite, where Green Hope NC girls who put 5 within 32 seconds of an 18:40 pace.  Sarah Rapp, Cardinal Gibbons, won the race with a time of 18:27.  Ryan Walling, Green Hope, won the boys race with a time of 15:38.   

 

 

Terror Invite, WI:  Sam Penzenstadler, Oshkosh West WI, won the boys race with a time of 15:54.70.  At the Menomonee Falls Grade Level Invite, WI, Jenna McMiller, Waukesha North, won the girls 4k race with a time of 14:32.05.  Nate Routhier, Homestead, won the boys race with a time of 16:15.27.

 

 

Bartlett Invite, AK:  A pair of Service, AK, teammates won individually with Jenette Northey winning the girls race in 18:45.6 while Jani Lane won the boys race in 15:55.4.
