The KTCCCA MLK Weekend Invitational lived up to its reputation as one of the Midwest's premier early-season indoor meets, producing elite marks across the sprints, distance events, relays, and field competitions. In addition to the elite talent, the KTCCCA put on a class act event hosting over 2,000 entries for the weekend.

Sprints
Clara Warrick (Louisville Track Club) was one of the top performers of the meet, sweeping the girls' short sprints in convincing fashion. The senior opened the day by winning the 55 meters in 7.10 before returning later to take the 200 meters in 24.42, separating herself from the field in both races. Alexis Howard (Simon Kenton) followed closely behind in the 55 and later claimed the girls' triple jump title with a 36-7 effort.
Walnut Hills had a strong showing in the 400 meters. Brooklyn Wineberg claimed the girls' title in 57.79, and teammate Malakai Lewars won the boys' race in 51.48. The boys' 400 was especially tight, with the top five separated by just .44 seconds.

Distance
The middle-distance races delivered some of the most competitive finishes of the meet. In the girls' 800 meters, Adeline Shultz (Floyd Central) controlled the race to win in 2:18.05. The boys' 800 came down to the lean, as Nicholas Kopp (Unattached) edged Bruce Hayden (Paris) by three-hundredths of a second, 1:58.92 to 1:58.95. Kyle Stickel (Lexington Christian) also dipped under two minutes with a 1:59.15. The boy's race had quite the finish!
Distance racing remained strong in the 1600 meters. Shelby Lamb (Madison Central) won the girls' mile in 5:13.51, while Elijah Wharton (Unattached) topped the boys' field in 4:19.73. Several athletes doubled back successfully, most notably Landon Hartman, who finished third in the 1600 before returning to win the boys' 3200 in 9:46.55.
The girls' 3200 featured a decisive win by Brynn Balturshot (Station Camp), who clocked 10:55.32. Lamb added another podium finish by placing third, highlighting her range across events.

Relays
Relay competition was a major highlight throughout the meet. Floyd Central swept the girls' relays, winning the 4x200 in 1:47.09 and the 4x800 in 10:00.94. North Oldham captured the boys' 4x200 title in 1:31.38, while Unioto won the boys' 4x800 in 8:40.65. The meet concluded with the 4x400 relays, where Madison Central and Madison Southern claimed the girls' and boys' titles, respectively.

Field
Field events produced several standout marks. Jordan Randall (Unattached) cleared 6-10 to win the boys' high jump, while Aubrelle Neal (Oldham County) took the girls' title at 5-4. In the pole vault, Riley Hinson won the girls' competition with a 10-0 clearance, and Austin Wheeldon (Oldham County) topped the boys' field at 11-6.
In the horizontal jumps, Natalie Svidal added a second title by winning the girls' long jump with a 17-5.25 effort. Javion Oliver (Unattached) won the boys' long jump at 21-10.75, while Ibrahim Soumare (Fern Creek) delivered the top boys' triple jump mark of the meet at 45-2.75. Soumare also placed third in the long jump earlier in the day.
The throws rounded out the meet with Donovan Moore (Unattached) winning the boys' shot put at 56-3.25 and Chloe Meyers (Bellevue) taking the girls' title with a 33-2 throw.

With multiple elite doubles, narrow finishes, and strong early-season marks across all event groups, the KTCCCA MLK Weekend Invitational once again set the tone for the indoor season.
