KY Boys Performance of the Week (9/30 - 10/5)

KY Boys Performance of the Week (9/30 - 10/5)

After a slow week in KY cross country with the horrendous weather, we finally had a week where there was nothing short of AMAZING performances. We had athletes kill it in North Carolina as well as several awesome performances in the state. With that, it is time to get into the nominations.

The first nominee is Bryce Revo of Muhlenberg County. Revo placed 5th at the Daviess County Classic running a 16:25. Revo was the second fastest KY finisher in the race.

The second nominee is James Gurley of Louisville Collegiate. Gurley placed 4th at the Louisville XC Classic (2nd KY finisher) in 15:39. Gurley has been the fastest Class 1A runner all season and should find himself in the conversation to win the Class 1A Championship in 4 weeks.

The third nominee is Jonathan Swartz of West Jessamine. The senior won the Hopewell Invitational in a time of 16:11 winning by 15 seconds.

The fourth nominee is Cooper Wasson of George Rogers Clark. Wasson was MIA last season as he was looking to find the form that he showed his Freshman season. At last the wait is over as Wasson has found it again placing 10th at the Great American XC Classic in 15:10. Wasson was the 1st finisher from KY beating Lincoln Herald, Eli Oetken, and Riku Sugie. As the season progresses, it is obvious that Wasson will enter the 3A State Championships as one of the favorites to take the crown here in about 4 weeks.

The fifth nominee is Will Sheets of Covington Catholic. The Senior delivered an amazing performance Saturday at Nike XC Town Twilight where he ran the fourth fastest cross country time in KY history with a 14:44. Sheets has been dominant this cross country season going undefeated in all KY races and placing in the top 3 in every out of state race he competes in. The only question left is: How will he fare against the best of the best that KY has to offer. If his out of state performances are any indication, he should find himself amongst the leaders in the 2A State Championships.
