Ciara O'Shea Places Fifth at Champs Nationals

Surprising absolutely no one in the state of Kentucky, Ciara O'Shea travelled to California to compete in the Champs Nationals meet and represented the state with class. She placed fifth overall in 17:21 and really gave the field a race by pushing the group in the first of two laps on the Balboa Park course.

This race finishes Ciara's legendary high school cross country career. She finishes as a five-time state champion and two-time national meet qualifier. She has broken the state cross country course record as well as run the best time ever run by a high school girl for cross country in the history of the state.

To say that this state has been forever changed by her impact would be an understatement. She has blazed a trail for female runners in Kentucky after following in the footsteps of so many strong runners. It is safe to say that the future of Kentucky female cross country is brighter following her accomplishments.

Following her race, Olivia Ekpone caught up with her to talk about her race. The interview is below.
