Ryan Eaton, two time defending Class AAA State Cross Country Champion and 1600m State Champion in Track has committed to run next year for the University of Kentucky in Lexington. Eaton has been the most dominant distance runner in Kentucky over the last two seasons being named the top runner by KYtrackXC.com each season. He was undefeated against Kentucky competition this season with victories at the Lexington Catholic Invitational, Southeast Showdown in Alabama, and the Franklin Simpson Wildness Invitational. He is the Greenwood school record holder in the 1600m with a 4:18.39.
Ryan chose UK over the University of Louisville, Belmont University, North Carolina State, and Iowa State University. He joins a young team that added several notable runners last year including Foot Locker Nationals qualifier Matt Sonnefeldt and miler Patrick McGregor. His brother Michael currently runs for the University of Louisville.
