duPont Manual & Bishop Brossart Dominance

Coming into the state championships, there were some things that we could not wait to see play out. One of those things was not how Bishop Brossart and duPont Manual girls were going to do on the team scores front. Both teams were dominant throughout the season and that carried into the state championships.

Bishop Brossart had thirteen ladies scoring points at the state championships and overachieved (if that is even a thing) based on the Regional Results Merge. They were slated to score 100 points but threw down an impressive 104 and beat out second-place Fort Campbell by 62.34 points. Led by Chloe Hein with 22 points and a spot on the 4x100m state runner-up squad, Brossart had 8 athletes score points individually with 10 athletes scoring points on relays (some of those individuals were also on relays). The 104 points scored by Bishop Brossart was only bettered by duPont Manual's 117.

Quite possibly the most impressive overall team performance that I have ever seen in the state championship came from the ladies at duPont Manual. They had 10 athletes score points for the team with Alexandra Allen and Ruby Nwosu being pivotal. The duo of Allen and Nwosu were first and second in the 100m, 200m, AND 400m. Throw in that they were also on the state champion 4x400m relay squad and they walked away with 4 gold medals. Jessica Secor anchored the distance points with a runner-up finish in the 1600m and 3200m (which is not too shabby based on who won those events...see the next Top Moment). Asia Sloan was the relay queen as she was on the state champion 4x100m and 4x200m relay as well as fourth in the 300m hurdles and fifth in the long jump. The meet started off strong with a runner-up finish in the 4x800m relay including Jessica Secor, Mary Kathryn French, Emerson Wyatt, and Mia Treinen. The 4x400m relay was a total team effort with Alexandra Allen, Ruby Nwosu, Jessica Secor, and Hannah Cease.

Alexandra Allen and Ruby Nwosu went 1-2 in the 100m
