Class A Brought Records and Excitement

The 2021 KHSAA Class 1A State Championships started the weekend off with a bang (literally). With a small weather delay due to lightning and thunder, the meet ended with Bishop Brossart girls and Holy Cross (Louisville) boys taking the team titles.

Krista Perry of Morgan County set the Class 1A state record in the 100 hurdles with her time of 14.52, which bested Melanie Welsing's (Model) 2018 record of 14.63.

Both Logan Isaacs (Bethlehem) and Jake Davidson (Lloyd Memorial) broke the Class 1A pole vault record with their vault of 15 feet. The previous record was 14' 7.25" set by Connor Messer (Raceland) in 2015, Jake Davidson went onto to clean 15' 6" to win the state championship and further raise the bar on the record.
