The start of indoor season upon us, and with that comes mystery for the sprinters and field athletes. The majority of distance and middle distance runners have competed in cross country, so we have a pretty good idea of what they'll be capable of at the start of the indoor season. On the sprints and field side, however, we haven't seen most of them compete since May 30th-June 1st at the state meet which means there's always potential to see breakout stars emerge throughout the indoor season.

Last year, the trio of Kaleb McDonald, Iaunia Pointer, and Veronique Ninamou dominated the sprints. This year Naturi Robinson of Tates Creek looks to be replacing McDonald in the 60, and Mackenzie Bell should be a force in the 200 and 400, but will have stiff competition in her teammate Iaunia Pointer who finished her 2019 season off as a class 3A state champion in the 200 and 400.
