Lesher Leads a Promising Sophomore Class
When their senior year comes, this could be an extremely hard class to beat. This year these boys will have to focus on continuing to grow stronger to put together an entire season of quality races.
This summer, Dalton Lesher made the switch from Bullitt East to Bullitt Central to follow his JROTC program and will train with an up and coming program led by Coach Isaac Mitchell. Consistency will be key for Lesher while he looks to improve upon a successful Freshman year and this is the season where he could make that jump. His 16:20.66 PR at the Mid-Kentucky Athletic Conference Championship was his fastest 5k by a fairly large margin, but he'll be on a mission to prove it wasn't just an outlier.
Levi Streeval is someone who I saw a lot from this past track season. He made an impressive double as a Freshman at the Class AAA State Track Meet finishing 8th in the 1600m and 12th in the 3200m as the lone freshman in the field. The Frederick Douglass program has been able to help him peak at the perfect time running his fastest and strongest at the end of the season. His 2018 XC State Meet was phenomenal after finishing second to just Austin Mathews in his regional competition, he backed it up with a 15th place at the Horse Park
Just a second behind Streeval's PR is Brady Masters. He has the advantage of training with one of the top runners in the entire state in Conner O'Shea and the Madison Central squad who hope to bring a strong team throughout the season. His track season was spent focusing on long distance running solely 3200m races with just one 800m race. He was able to dip down close to the sub 10 mark with a 10:05 at a very hot Cooper/Borgia Invite. That whole season will be a major key in his progression through the summer and carrying the strength to November.
