Baleigh Noland of Corbin Senior Sendoff

What was your most memorable meet and why?

Definitely the 2017 Region Meet held at Cave lake in Monticello, Ky. I not only ran a personal record for the season, but my team got runner up, beating the 3rd place team by a single point. It was such an awesome way to end my cross season and will always be a meet I remember.

Where did you face your biggest competition?

I faced my biggest competition at the 2018 KHSAA State Meet held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky. Every year I look forward to the state meet because the competition is outrageous. I love running against so many girls, it helps push me.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments which stands out the most and why?

Receiving the region runner up trophy in 2017 was one of the best accomplishments in my entire high school career. My team had fought adversity the whole season with injuries, sickness, etc., but in the end when it mattered most we were able to come together.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

I would have started running earlier. I didn't start running cross country until my sophomore year and I feel like if I had started earlier it would have helped tremendously.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

The most difficult obstacle I had to overcome was the beginning of my senior cross season. I strained a tendon in my foot and could not run for two months. It was extremely hard to come back and practice after the injury.

What will you miss the most?

The thing I will miss the most would have to be my teammates. Throughout the season we formed a bond and became super close. Running miles and miles together each week and just creating long lasting friendships is something I will never forget.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?

My biggest piece of advice is to never give up. Running takes a special type of person and many days it would be easy to quit but the end result is well worth all the hard work. Give it your all every day at practice so you can look back with no regrets.

What are your post-high school or college plans?

I plan to go to college and major in biology. I don't plan on running for a college but I will never stop running.

What are your post-high school or college plans?

I would like to thank both of my coaches, Coach Harris and Coach G, for all their support and encouragement throughout my running career. You guys made cross county fun for the three years I was apart of the team, but more importantly you made running a part of me for life. I can't express how thankful I am that I joined the team and stayed with it. I devoted my high school to the sport, and in return you both developed me into the person I am today.
