KYtrackXC.com: 1st Annual Middle School Outdoor Awards

KYtrackXC.com is pleased to announce the first Middle School Outdoor Awards.  These will be done in the same fashion as previous KYtrackXC.com Awards, Sprinter, Distance Runner, and Field Event Athletes of the Year.

Sprinter of the Year

Alisha Adair

Bondurant Middle School

Adair, an eighth grader at Bondurant Middle School was clearly the top Middle School sprinter throughout the entire Kentucky Outdoor Season.  She finished off her Middle School season with three victories in the 100m, 200m, and 400m Dashes at the KTCCCA Middle School State Meet this past Saturday.  She ran the three fastest times statewide in the 100m Dash (12.87), 200m Dash (26.56), and 400m Dash (58.49.)  She is also currently ranked #1 in Kentucky High School Class AA for the 200m Dash. 

 

Distance Runner of the Year

Tia Weston

Lassiter Middle School

Weston, an eighth grader at Lassiter Middle School capped off her Middle School season Saturday at the KTCCCA Middle School State Meet with victories in the 800m & 1600m Runs.  Her times of 2:28.41 and 5:31.29 were the fastest times statewide for both events during the 2009 Kentucky Middle School Outdoor Season.

 

 

Field Event Athlete of the Year

 

Amy Johnson

Rockcastle County Middle School

Johnson, an eighth grader at Rockcastle County won both throwing events at the KTCCCA Middle School State Meet Saturday.  She finished her season with best throws of 88-05 in the Discus and 32-08.25 in the Shot Put.

Sprinter of the Year

 

Scooter Wilson

John Hardin Middle Track

Wilson, an eighth grader running for John Hardin was the top Middle School 400m runner all season long.  He finished his middle school career with a victory in the 400m at the KTCCCA Middle School State Meet.  He had a best time of 52.87 this season.

 

 

Distance Runner of the Year

 

Tretez Kinnaird

Johnson Middle School

Kinnaird, an eighth grader at Johnson Middle School in Louisville dominated the Kentucky Middle School Distance events he entered this spring.  He won the 800m Run and 1600m Run at the KTCCCA Middle School State Meet.  His winning time of 2:06.22 broke the Middle School State Record.  He has best times of 2:04.93 in the 800m Run and 4:48.84 for the One Mile Run.

 

 

Field Event Athlete of the Year

 

Zach Main

Owensboro Middle School

Main, an eighth grader at Owensboro Middle School won the KTCCCA Middle School State Meet Long Jump title with a record breaking leap of 20-05.  He did not stop there as he won the 100m and 200m Dashes.  He has best times of 11.26 in the 100m and 23.44 in the 200m this season.
