Jasmine Varner Returns to Defend her 300 Hurdles Top Mark

The girl's 300 hurdles returners features all three state champions. Unfortunately, Alexandra Lawson formerly of Fort Knox has moved to Virginia, therefore Alli Cundiff of University Heights is the top class A returner. Nevertheless, we get to see the best of 2017 back on the track in 2018. Bowling Green's Jasmine Varner is tops in all classes with her 44.88 from the state track meet that led to her state title. She will have tough competition from MaKenzie Cooper of George Rogers Clark and Tahlea Harris of Central who, along with Avery O'Hara of Hopkinsville, are 4 of the top 6 that return in class AAA. Zinaija Reed is in a class of her own in class AA as her next best competitor is a full second slower. Can someone make a charge at her and challenge for the class AA state title? The name that sticks out to me is Kaylee Lanigan of Boyle County who is a part of a machine in Danville. Coach Wagner has those ladies clicking with back to back team titles and he always seems to find another stud to round out his squad. Is Kaylee, a sophomore, that next young lady? Only time will tell!

Varner took the West Region High School Invitational 55H title.
Her race is at the 2:44 mark in the video.

Reed and Harris faced off in the 60H at the 2018 Wildcat Classic
