The high jumpers from East Jessamine have accounted for two of the last three class AAA state championships. Both seniors Jalynn Landversicht and Taliyah Colone have captured a state title (Jalynn in 2017 and Taliyah in 2015). Now they drop down to class AA and will compete with the returning class AA state runner up Promise Cross of Rowan County. Promise and Jalynn have the best returning mark with 5'6" but there is a crowd on their heels. This will be an interesting competition all year long and as we all know, anything can happen at the University of Kentucky track facility in the middle of May. The name I would watch is Alison Arnett of Dixie Heights who comes into the season ranked 9th but has cleared 5'4" in her 7th grade year.
