State Champion Johnson Leads Returning High Jumpers

Aaron Johnson of Mercer County has had an incredible start to this season. He was the UK High School Invite high jump champion, while also running the #12 national mark in the 60 meter hurdles with a 7.95. Aaron already surpassed his outdoor best from 2017 with a leap of 6-8 indoor. How high will he go? He is not without competition however. De'Anta Sanon of East Jessamine will battle with Aaron for the Class AA Region 5 title as well as the state title. The class of class AAA is Peyton Shotwell of Scott County who placed third at the UK High School Invitational and placed 7th at the outdoor state meet (he is the third best returning athlete from the class AAA state meet). The names I would watch this season are Bryce Favors of Eastern who has qualified for New Balance Indoors and Reese Robinson of Boyd County.
