Former KY Runner Updates: Curtis 28:06 10K, Fortney 2:34 Marathon

Former St. Xavier runner Bobby Curtis ran a career best time of 28:06.74 in the 10,000 Meter Run in Syndey, Australia at the Zapotek 10.  This is one of the top annual track meets held in Australia.  Curtis was the 2008 NCAA Division I 5,000 Meter Champion.  He holds Kentucky State Track Records in the 1600m and 3200m runs.

 

Former Muhlenberg North/Eastern Kentucky University runner Jacob Fortney ran his first marathon at the Rocket City Marathon in Huntsville, Alabama on December 13, 2008.  He finished 9th with a time of 2 Hours and 34 Minutes.  His average pace was 5:52 per mile.  There were over 1,500 registered entries for the race.  Jacob won the 2002 and 2003 Class AA Kentucky State Cross Country title, he is the son of Daviess County Girls Coach Mark Fortney.
