Kentucky State 100m Record Holder Tyson Gay won his Quarterfinal heat of the 100m Dash at the US Olympic Trials with an American Record time of 9.77.   He will run in the Trial 100m Dash finals Sunday at 4:49pm Pacific.

Quote from Tyson Gay from the USATF

Tyson Gay, Heat 1 - American and Hayward Field Record (9.77)

"After the first round, I was scared. I almost started crying as soon as I crossed the line because I thought I didn't make it. I was pretty nervous, but this round I ran through the line. I eased up a little bit. I had my arms in here so I wasn't trying to exert too much energy."

On breaking the record: "I eased up a little bit, but I'm not worried about the record. I thank God that I was able to run a PR, but that's what I want to do in the finals."

Dana Pounds (Lexington Christian) won her flight of the Javelin with a toss of 187-10.  The finals will be held Monday at 8:20pm Pacific.
