St. Xavier Alum Bobby Curtis named USATF Athlete of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS - Bobby Curtis has been named USA Track & Field's Athlete of the Week after winning the 2007 Big East Cross Country Championships Saturday at the E.P. `Tom' Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky.

A senior at Villanova University, Curtis won the men's 8 km title in a course-record 23 minutes, 8.85 seconds to win the individual title for the second time. He also captured the 2004 crown with a time of 23:26 at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.

Now in its sixth year, USATF's Athlete of the Week program is designed to recognize outstanding performers at all levels of the sport. USATF names a new honoree each week and features the athlete on the USATF website. Selections are based on top performances and results from the previous week.
