WKU women's cross country junior Kate Lever was named to the Conference USA Women’s All-Academic Team after her all-conference effort on the course and perfect grades in the classroom, the league announced Friday morning.
Lever led WKU in every race this season and turned in a seventh-place showing at the C-USA Cross Country Championships earlier this month to garner First Team All-Conference USA honors. The Elizabethtown native was also recognized as the C-USA Female Athlete of the Week on Oct. 21 following her performance at the Pre National Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind.
In the classroom, Lever has been a perfect student through four completed semesters as she holds a 4.0 GPA as a communication studies major. She was one of six women’s runners honored across the league and one of two to hold a 4.0 GPA. Lever’s academic prowess was also rewarded following the 2014 outdoor track season as the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) named her to the women’s All-Academic team.
