I was a freshman in high school finishing up my first season as a JV runner at DeSales High School in Louisville whenever I attempted my first state XC meet. Little did I know it would be the first of many to come. Jeremy Kazlauskas of Daviess County ran away with the individual title with a 15:27 on the old Horse Park course. But the thing that will always stick out is the complete smackdown Trinity put on the field that day. It was dominance pure and simple.
Back then the finish line had a crowd along it for the last at least 500 feet. Boom at once here comes three Trinity runners finishing at 3, 4, and 5 within three seconds of each other all running sub 16 in the process. They rolled big time with all five coming in before 17th place. What a day for Trinity!
