Ryle Relays Recap

The 16th Annual Raider Relays concluded with a bang as six meet records were broken.  Brossart boys stormed to a second consecutive Raider Relays title beating out eleven other teams scoring 93 points while Boone County captured the Runner-Up trophy scoring 74 points.  On the girls side Boone County and Notre Dame fought to a first ever 69-69 tie among thirteen teams. 
 
MEET SUMMARY:
 
BOYS:
Brossart set four meet records. The Shuttle Hurldes team beat a 5-year old record (St Henry 1:08.8, 2002) by almost 2 seconds with a time of 1:07.0.  The Brossart Discus and Shot Put duo shattered two records in one night.  The Discus record (255-8) set just last year by the same team fell by almost 13 feet (268-7) while the Shot Put record set 2 years ago by Glen Este (95-10) was shattered by almost 8 feet (95-10).  The Mustangs did not stop there as they broke an 8-year old record (St Henry 11-8) in the High Jump event at 12-0.  Boone County raced to the Runner-Up trophy by winning one gold medal and capturing seven silvers.   
 
GIRLS:
Two records fell during the windy and chilly evening.  Notre Dame sprinted past the 400m Relay record set in 2003 by Brossart by 1/10 of a second running 52.6 seconds.  The last event of the night saw the 2-year old record fall in the Triple Jump by the slimmest of margins.  Ryle jumped 63-11.5 to surpass the old record of 2005 set by Brossart by one-half inch.  Notre Dame won one gold medal and five silvers to finish in the first team tie of the 16-year history of the meet while Boone County captured three golds and silvers.
