1) Goals for 2007
My goals for 2007 are first to get that all elusive state title trophy displayed in our trophy case at Fort Campbell High School. We have more depth with this year's team than we did last year. Individually I want to lower my PR's for each of my events (100m, 200m, & LJ). I have been working really hard on technique and strength training to help me in my events.
2) Where are you planning on running next year?
I am still trying to sort all of that out. I am not sure yet but as soon as I figure that all out I will be sure to let you know. I have been praying about it and also talking to my parents and my coach, so we will see how everything work out.
3) What is your favorite event in which to compete?
I can't say that I have a favorite event as I like all of the events that I compete in. All of them require something different from me. The 100m is all about speed, while the 200m is about speed but also requires some endurance and the long jump is just all together different but I have really taken a liking to this event.
4) What is your favorite event to watch?
My favorite event to watch is the 200m! I like watching how different athletes handle the curve in the 200m. Some of them attack the curve while yet others accelerate coming out of the curve.
5) You have added the long jump this season on top the running events.
What has that been like?
Oh man, that has been kind of hectic because by the time I check in to the LJ, I end up having to leave right after warming up to go and run the 100m, and then by the time I am done with that I take a couple of practice runs to warm up and maybe get in one jump and then it is off to check in for the 4x100, but overall it has really been fun.
6) How did it feel to win 4 State Titles last year, 2 individually and 2 relays?
At first it was just like any other track meet and it really didn't hit me until I started reading all the newspaper articles, especially the one in The Leaf Chronicle which read "Stallworth Leaves No Question about State's Top Runner" and "Falcon's take Runner Up at State." Then it really started to sink in as to what was just accomplished not only by myself but also by my teammates. That's when you really understand why it is that you work so hard in practice and during the off season. It all adds up to having an awesome year as we did last year.
7) Any other comments you would like to add?
Jonathan I just want to thank you for choosing me to interview and putting this on your website. Thank you and may you have a blessed evening!
