Meet History
On Friday, May 2, 2014 at 8:00 PM, St. Xavier High School will be hosting the 5th annual running of the Kentucky Dream Mile for Kentucky’s elite boys and girls high school (grades 9-12) distance runners.
The purpose of this event is to bring together, on one night and at one venue, the most elite high school milers from throughout the state, under the most optimal of conditions, at a time of the season to produce times worthy of national recognition.
The qualifying standards are high, but that is in the hopes of enabling the most talented Kentucky high school distance athletes to achieve, as a group, what many outside of Kentucky feel isn’t within our state’s level of ability – to have several of our elite runners reach a national standard of excellence.
Entry Standards:
Boys: 1600 meters - 4:23 or Mile: 4:25
Girls: 1600 meters - 5:13 or Mile: 5:15
All reported times must be run outdoors during the 2014 season (through and including meets run Saturday, April 26) and must be able to be verified. Any time that cannot be verified will
be disallowed.
If you have a verified time that is within 5 seconds of the standard or a time previous to the qualifying window that falls within the standard and would like to be put on a provisional status list, you are welcome to submit an entry. The games committee also reserves the right to add any at-large participants they feel will be competitive.
There is no entry fee for participants
We will fill the fields with a maximum of 16 runners per race. We will also seed alternates for each race in the event that someone needs to drop out.
We will be accepting entries starting today, Thursday, April 10, 2013, running through Sunday, April 27, 2014. We will announce the fields for the races on Monday, April 28, 2014.
ALL runners must be entered. Don’t assume that meeting the standard is your entry into the
KY Dream Mile. A coach, not parents or athletes MUST submit all entries, as this event will count against your team(s) meet total. Enter only via email to Coach Chuck Medley at medleyc@saintxfac.com
