Senior Send-Off: Trey Warren, Greenwood

Trey Warren is a 2013 Greenwood graduate.  He finished up his career with a 9th place finish in Class AAA at the Kentucky State Track Meet in the 800m Run.

What was your most memorable race/event?

2013 Track Regionals. It was my most high pressure race and it all game together perfectly for me to qualify for state. It was a fun race and a PR.

Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?

My teammates. We always pushed each other. Oh and Clayton Hall, he kept me in my place pretty well junior year.

What was your greatest accomplishment?

Overcoming an injury the week of state my senior year and still pushing to a top ten finish.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

Starting sooner. I started my sophomore year and only did two seasons of cross country. I wish I had started in middle school and just grown up a runner.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

Learning to be a distance runner. When you're a distance runner everything changes, you don't have an off season, your diet changes, you have to keep a training log, it's a lifestyle and I had to learn to live and love it.

What will you miss the most?

My teammates. Our distance crew is a family and I will be hard pressed to find another bunch like them.

What advice you would give to younger athletes?

Start soon and enjoy the little things about this sport.

What influence has your coaches had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

They've taught me that doing the little things and logging the miles really do make the difference, and also have taught me that hard work pays off. Trust the training.

What are your plans for college or joining the workforce next year?

I'll be running for Milligan College in Johnson City, TN.

Who would you like to say thank you to?

Colin Sheehan. Without you bro I wouldn't be where I am as a runner and a person. Much love. Also, my parents. They came to almost every track meet and paid for all the doctor visits, new shoes, massages and anything else I needed. Furthermore my dad would always talk to me the night before a race and make sure I had a plan and kept a level head.

Is there anything else you'd like to add?

Trial of Miles, Miles of Trials.
