Cory Heslin just graduated from Eastern High School in Louisville. He was 8th overall in the 1600m at the Class AAA Kentucky State Track Meet this fall May. This past fall he was the #1 runner for Eastern leading them to a 6th place team finish at the Class AAA Cross Country State Championship. He will continue running next year at the University of the Cumberlands.

CH: Eastern Relays 2013 racing the mile race in the first heat

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?
CH: Not being so hard on myself
What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?
CH: Junior was a pretty tough year for me
What will you miss the most?
CH: I will miss Coach Sowder, Coach Horan and the whole Eastern Team
What advice you would give to younger athletes?
CH: Run fast everywhere you go!
What influence has your coaches had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?
CH: My coaches taught me that there is more to life than chasing PRs/or trying to reach the top.
What are your plans for college or joining the workforce next year?
CH: I will attending and running at the University of the Cumberlands with my homie Sam Meredith!!!!
Who would you like to say thank you to?
CH: I would like to say thank you to God, my coaches, my teammates and especially my parents, they invest so much into me and I will never be able to show how truly grateful I am for them.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
CH: Don’t try to be known as a runner, try to be known for something greater. Running only last for so long.
