Live Updates from Eastern Relays will be posted here starting tonight. I will be getting into Louisville after the meet starts tonight.
Quick question. What is the limit for runners in a single race in the distance events. Sprints are easy, you just line them up in lanes and run however many heats it takes.
There are a boat load of runners in the 800, 1600, 3200 for Saturday. I'm sure you don't want 80 runners on the track at the same time so what is reasonable? With 24 runners in the 2nd or 3rd heat of the 800/1600 all with a time within 3 seconds of each other it is going to be a bumpy ride. So, I'm curious from a meet management perspective how they will be broken out.
According to Mike's tweet the other night, they are estimating 18, 24, and 30 per heat for the 800, 1600, and 3200, respectively.
Just got there to the meet. Update here in a second.

@
jonathan - thanks. Did all 66 of those guys run in one heat?!?
@
bruggles
Nope, 2 heats. They typically don't identify heats in the distance races, usually just with the sprint events.

The times look like they are place off starting around 10th place. Is there a runner missing?
Although we're talking boys, I know everyone really came to see the girls 3200.
Just throwing out that 6 girls from Region 4 ran sub-12:00. The AHS girls had a good night, but how about that Caroline Grogan (OC) with an 11:23, and Tori Wigginton (Eastern) with what had to be a huge PR in 11:44?!
Overall, the girls 3200 was also a big deal - in my mind, largely because KY kids threw down some great marks, in fact better marks than I've seen at a few State Meets! Great job girls!
