Rumor on the street is that Southern will have five with DNF's to let a fourth squad make it out. Makes Eastern the fourth team.
Doesn't look like Southern has 5 girls with 4 races to me.
DNF count as a race, they have no way of showing up on the girls profiles.
They are suppose to be at the bottom of the results. A lot time they are added after the fact. It is suppose to be for any athlete who starts the race even if they do not actually attempt to run it.
Seems like the 4 race rule is a little silly if runners can get credit for a race that they didn't attempt to run?
The rule is designed to protect runners who get hurt early in the season and are able to make it back at the end of the season to compete. Since we are the only sport that requires a certain number of games or races to actually be competed before you are eligible for the post-season.
The runner is still required to be there on the start line and then they can actually walk off the course, after the race starts.
Thank you for clarifying. So is safe to assume that the intent of the rule is prevent athletes from other sports from joining up in post season cc, after their other respective sports have ended?
I spoke recently with this Coach Barry Haworth and he tells me that Assumption won't be using the Regional Meet as a tempo run opportunity.
With the level of quality present in the girls teams from Sacred Heart, Oldham County and Eastern, there's no way a team other than maybe Fay-Man, Carmel, or Saratoga Springs could advance through that Region if they didn't take the race seriously. Those teams are well coached and just too good to take lightly.
I've heard that Haworth guys often keeps something up his sleeve... Will he be running his top 7??? Inquiring minds want to know!
But seriously, there really is no reason to hold back. You've had the assumption team in the national spotlight (which is great) so there won't be any surprises... Unless you loose

Thanks and no worries, none of our girls have any intention of being "loose".
LOL (and I'm too old to use LOL but I actually laughed out loud at that.)
