BG's Lauren Wheeler Commits to the University of Memphis

Lauren Wheeler, senior at Bowling Green has committed to run at the University of Memphis next year.  She is coming off a 25th place finish at the Class AAA Kentucky State Cross Country Meet helping to lead Bowling Green to a Team Runner-Up finish.  Last spring she was 5th overall in the 800m Run at the Class AAA Kentucky State Track Meet with a 2:21.54.  She was also a member of the State Runner-Up 4x800m Relay Team.

She is the 3rd member of the Bowling Green squad to commit to run in college joining Sarah-Emily Woodward (Austin Peay State) and Ciara Scott (EKU).

When asked why she chose Memphis:

"First impressions are always important and the coach at the University of
Memphis definitely made a mark the first time I talked with him. He showed
how passionate he is about running and his willingness to do whatever it
takes to help his runners reach their full potential. After visiting the
university, I was astounded at how perfect it was for me. I immediately
connected with the girls and guys on the cross country team; they made me
feel as though I were already apart of the team. I loved the campus and
felt completely at home while I was there.  I am excited to spend the next
four years at Memphis and look forward to seeing what I can accomplish
both academically and athletically as a Memphis Tiger. Go Tigers!"
