About the Meet
The staff of the Panther Prowl experienced hosting the Fast Cats Classic and Daviess County 6k Relay for many years. The Panther Prowl is the result of our desire to bring back a combination of those events on the same weekend as Fall cross country gets underway.
Our layout at beautiful Yellow Creek Park is conveniently laid out for easy access to kilometer and mile splits and is very spectator friendly. The course is slightly rolling with good footing and extremely well groomed with the reputation of being one of the premier courses in Kentucky.
Relay Procedure
This meet is designed to be a fun and different way to help initiate the early cross country season.
Coaches will enter paired runners (up to 10 pairs per team.) The first runner of each pair will run
the designed route and then tag off the second runner (partner) in the designated exchange zone
near the start/finish. The second runner will run the same course to the finish line. The top 3
pairs for each school will be added together to determine team places. Example: if you first 3
pairs finish 2nd, 7th, and 11th then your team score is 13 points. Low score wins as in a typical
meet.
The high school competition will be a 6k relay (each runner in a pair runs a 3k loop) - the middle
school competition will be a 4k relay (each runner in a pair runs a 2k loop.)
We are providing a non-scored open race (2k) for extra runners on your elementary/MS team at 8:20 am.

DIRECTIONS TO YELLOW CREEK PARK
From the north into downtown Owensboro - after crossing the Cary Glover (US 231) Bridge into Owensboro - go straight (south) two blocks to Fourth Street. Take a left (east.) Fourth Street/ Hwy 144. After a mile or two you will pass McDonalds and continue straight for about 2 more miles before merging right onto KY-144 E. Take 144 about 2 miles to Thruston, Ky. The entrance to Yellow Creek Park will be on the right side of the road.
From the northeast - crossing into Kentucky over the William H Natcher Bridge on Highway 231 S near Rockport, Indiana - continue on following Hwy 60 W/231 Stoward Owensboro. Exit east on Ky 144 (exit 21) and follow it about 2 miles to Thruston, Ky. The entrance to Yellow Creek Parkwill be on the right side of the road.
Fromthe east (Audubon) - exit right (east) onto Wendell Ford Expressway (Hwy 60/231) and follow to it around Owensboro to the Ky 144 (exit 21). Turn right and follow 144 about 2 miles to Thruston, Ky. The entrance to Yellow Creek Park will be on the right side of the road.
From the south (Natcher Parkway) - exit (east) in the right lane onto the Wendell Ford Expressway (Hwy 60/231) and follow to it to Ky 144 (exit 21) - Turn right and follow 144 about 2 miles to Thruston, Ky. The entrance to Yellow Creek Park will be on the right side of the road.
