Elementary Dream Mile- Race day instructions
Gates will open at 5:30. Track will be open for warm-ups from 5:30-5:50.
Admission is free this year thanks to our generous sponsors from Swags Sport Shoes and the City of Middletown.
When you arrive, check your runner in and pay any outstanding meet entry fees at our Athlete/Team Check-in Table near the main gate.
When a race is called, runners will check-in to our clerking area. The clerking area is outside the fence near the 200m starting area (unless otherwise announced over the PA). Five minutes before race time, runners will be walked over to the start line.
We did not require a consolation race in any of the age groups, so our schedule has been revised for 4 races:
Final Schedule of Events
6:00 K-3 boys Championship
6:15 K-3 girls Championship
6:30 4 -5 boys Championship
6:45 4-5 girls Championship
7:00 Awards
Parents and Coaches,
The Kentucky Elementary Dream Mile is a match-up of the best milers in Kentucky. There will be four divisions (K-3rd grade and 4th-5th grade for both boys and girls). Each division will have a championship and a consolation heat consisting of 16 runners.
If you wish to be considered, register on kymilesplit.com. Registering does not guarantee a spot in the race, just consideration. Spots in each division are awarded to the 32 fastest mile (or 1600) times in that division. The final announcement of selection will be Weds May 22nd. After that time alternates can be added if a slot becomes available.
Please make sure your graduation year, school (or affiliation you wish to run for) and best time are accurate.
Rankings of the top 32 runners in each division will be sent out on listserve. Any corrections may be emailed to kris.krohn@jefferson.kyschools.us Please include runner name, time, gender, school/club and grade.
The Qualifying window will close at 9am May 20th, 2024. Runner info for consideration or any improvements in time that need to be added to the list are due at that time.
Declarations are due by Wednesday May 22nd at noon. Unclaimed spots will then be awarded on a first come basis. Anyone wishing to be put on the waiting list can email Coach Krohn. The waiting list prior to Wednesday will be prioritized by time.
Top 16 times will be locked into the championship heat at the Wednesday noon deadline. Any runner who applies for meet entry after that deadline will be placed into the consolation heat, regardless of seed time. Only when a top 16 runner drops from the meet will a runner from the consolation heat be moved into the championship heat. The runner that moves up to the championship heat will be determined by seed time of those runners in the consolation heat at the time the opening occurs.
*If you are currently outside the top 32, please send your intention to claim a spot ASAP. I will use times for unclaimed spots until Wednesday at noon. After that it will be first come.
While we have enough runners qualified for championship and consolation heats, those heats will be combined if a significant number of spots are unclaimed.
Fee for runners: $15 per runner, checks payable to Eastern Track Boosters.
Awards: Top 8 in each division will receive an award. Awards are restricted to the Championship heat.
Gates open at 5:00. The track will be open from 5:00-5:45 for runners and coaches. The track and infield will be cleared at 5:45. No parents or coaches will be allowed on the track or infield.
Runner numbers will be given in the corral. The corral is for runners only please. We need their attention to get numbers placed and for them to hear relevant information.
