Meet Information
at Lone Oak Outdoor Center - 140 Lone Oak Drive, Nicholasville, KY 40356 (**see our mission statement at the bottom)
Athletes and/or teams are welcome to compete this as a full individual race (not as part of a pack). This event is simply designed to help teach pack running to teams wanting to utilize the strategy in their meets.
Teams that choose to be a part of the Pack Running Challenge will run segments of the full course in which all members of a pack must stay within 10 seconds of each other in order to continue to the next segment. (Packs will be designated with color wristbands,....a school may enter as many different packs as they like with a minimum of 4 in a pack). Each pack on a team will have a different color wristband. Coaches (or a designated person) may "chase" their packs to provide encouragement without any DQ's.
If the race is split into 5 segments, a pack "wins" if they finish all segments without a penalty for exceeding the 10 second limit per pack from pack leader to pack trailer.
For example- A team has a "green pack" of 4, and a "red pack" of 7. At certain places along the course, the green pack leader will stop and the clock will count for the pack trailer to be within 10 seconds. Same with the red pack leader and trailer. If the green pack is all within 10 seconds of each other, they receive a point for their team and continue. If the red pack is NOT within 10 seconds of each other, their team continues to try again on the next segment but does not receive a point.
Points for a pack = awards at the completion of the full race distance.
