We have a very large field in all of our events but, especially in our 100m and 800m. We are really excited about the growth of our sport and the large size of so many teams in our area! However, we want to be sure that we have a good plan to manage this large field efficiently.
Declaration and Clerking
We will use the declaration method for clerking most of our events on Saturday. This is a two-step process where athletes report with their competitor number to the declaration area (note on attached map near the Eastern softball field) to confirm that they are present and intend to run the event. After declaring for the event, athletes can warm-up and should listen for announcements. Anyone not declared for an event when the declaration closes will be scratched and cannot run. Then, when called to return, athletes will return to the clerking area (noted on the attached map near the Eastern scoreboard) for their section and lane assignments. Once called to the clerking area, athletes will remain in the area until their races.
Athletes need to be attentive to announcements and the general flow of the meet. Typically, the declaration for one event will be closing 2 events before that event. Field event athletes may have a parent, coach, or teammate help with the declaration process. The larger a specific race is, the earlier we will close the declaration process for that event.
Specific instructions for the 100m
We have over 400 entrants in the 100m dash.
We will have declarations for the 100m dash from 10:00-10:45am. After 10:45 anyone who has not reported/declared will be removed from the field, then the races will be seeded. Athletes will be called back during the 4x800m races to be lined up.
We will allow the top 40 seeded entries for boys and girls to use blocks, after the top 40 we will no longer allow blocks to hasten the process.
Our plan run races on both the home stretch and the back stretch depending on the field size after declarations. Tentatively, girls will be on the home stretch and boys on the back stretch.

We have very large fields in several field events. See the timeline below for our plan. It is possible that we could run slightly behind but we will not run ahead of this plan.
