THESE RACES ARE OPEN TO HENDERSON COUNTY TEAMS ONLY
Its time for the 5th Annual Junior Colonels Race Series!

This year we will have a 2 race series on Mondays, 9/16 and Tuesday, 9/24 ~ with the 9/24 race being a District Championship Race for local teams.
These races are open to local elementary and middle school cross-country teams.
Also, local students in grades K -5 that are not attached to an elementary cross-country team are invited to race in the open race.
RACE LOCATION:
Races this year will be held at the old Henderson municipal golf course.
RACE/ADMISSION FEES:
Race entry is free.
RACES OFFERED:
The Open Race for unattached elementary runners, grades 1 -5 (those not on an elementary school team) will be a 1K (approximately .62 miles). No registration is required for the Open Race - just show up and run! This race will NOT be timed but top 10 boys and top 10 girls will be awarded ribbons. For this race boys and girls will run together.
The Elementary Team races (5th grade and under) will be a 2K (approx. 1.24 miles)and there will be a 3K race (approx. 1.86 miles) for Middle School Teams (8th grade and under).
RACE REGISTRATION
Elementary and middle school teams will need to register their teams using milesplit. On race day, elementary and middle school runners will need to check in with their coach to get their race numbers.
REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS SUNDAY, 9/22/19 BY 11:00 PM CENTRAL TIME.
** No registration is required for the OPEN RACE. Individuals can just show up and run.
***Runners can only compete in ONE race, i.e., a participant that runs in the open race cannot also run in a team race - or a particapant that runs in a team race cannot run in the open race or in another team race (a participant that runs in the elementary race cannot run in the middle school race and vice versa).***

The first race will begin at 4:45 and the remaining races will be on a rolling start, meaning that we will begin each race as soon as the prior one is finished.
Race times listed are approximate:
Boys Elementary 4:45 p.m.,
Girls Elementary 5:05 p.m.
Middle School Boys 3K race 5:25 p.m.
Middle School Girls 3K race 5:55 p.m.
Open 1K Mixed race (boys and girls together) 6:25 p.m.
. Please note that races may begin EARLIER than these start times, since we will move through as quickly as possible on a rolling schedule.
AWARDS:
For all races on both 9/16 and 9/24, the top 10 boys and top girls in each division will receive ribbons.
In the final race of the series, on 9/24, local elementary and middle school teams will be competing for the title of Junior Colonel Cup District Champions! Trophies will be awarded to the top 2 middle school teams and the top 3 elementary teams.
This year we will again name Henderson All-County teams! The top FIVE Henderson County middle school boys and girls and the top FIVE Henderson elementary boys and girls will be honored as First Team All-County. We will also honor the next FIVE elementary boys and girls as Second Team All-County. All County teams will be determined based on each persons best individual race time of the series. Plaques will be awarded to all First and Second All-County Team Recipients.
