Owensboro, Ky. – Kentucky-Indiana Border Clash 2013 typified the beginning to most prep cross country seasons; both races were instigated by crushing tempos from the gun. These blistering paces were matched with equally hot temperatures, as the heat index preceding the 6 pm CT girls race was a stout 99 degrees (88 degrees, 68% humidity). By coupling first race excitement with exotic conditions, western Kentucky and southern Indiana athletes, coaches, and fans experienced or saw performances under humid and oxygen debt filled circumstances.
