The Centre women's cross country team ran the 6k course at Emory University early Saturday morning for the South/Southeast Regional Championship meet. They finished third in the competition, with three runners earning all-Region honors and one earning an automatic qualifier into the NCAA Championships.
The Colonels scored 142 points at the Regional Championship, ten points behind second place Emory and nine points ahead of fourth place Washington and Lee. Trinity won the competition with 39 points. Bridgewater (Va.) finished fifth with 176.
On the individual side, sophomore Ashley El Rady (Louisville, Ky.) finished seventh overall with a time of 23:01.05 on the 5k course. Fellow sophomores Hannah Ellis (Crestwood, Ky.) and Emily Akin (Cincinnati, Ohio) joined El Rady on the all-Region team with respective times of 23:36.77 and 24:00.21, finishing in the top 30 overall in a field of 184 participants. Sophomore Cristin Palmer (Louisville, Ky.) posted a time of 24:17.82, while junior Megan Radenhausen (Edgewood, Ky.) rounded out the scoring with a time of 24:25.68.
The NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships will be held on November 17th in Terre Haute, Ind. Ashley El Rady will participate for Centre by virtue of her top ten finish. The team field will be announced early in the week. Centre finished in third place at last year's regional championships, but earned an at-large berth into the NCAA meet.
