Girls Championship

"Going for the Win"

Bailey Davis and Katherine Receveur of Assumption along with Maggie Allen of Sacred Heart are the favorites in this one.  As we saw at Lexington Catholic when Assumption did a tempo run you never know what Assumption is going to do.  If the girls are unleashed this will be a great race and should produce fast times.  Davis and Receveur have gone under 18 a couple times, whereas Maggie Allen has gotten down to 18:17.  If the weather is right and everyone goes this could be a perfect opportunity to set a PR.

"Team Hunt"

Sacred Heart is coming off the victory at Lexington Catholic when Assumption did a tempo workout.  A victory is a victory regardless, especially between rivals like Assumption and SHA.  Regardless of plan, look for this race to open a little more with Assumption winning.  The big three of Davis, Receveur, and Bean will have Allen and Samantha Simms to deal with in the front.

But, let's not forget about Oldham County.  The team that is sometimes left out of the discussion. Caroline Grogan and company will try to break the privates lockdown on the top 10.  If seven teams show up as projected than the girls of Eastern will fill in the fourth spot led by Allison Burgin and earn a spot to state.

Boys Championship

"Going for the Win"

Someone from Trinity is going to win this race.  That sounds generic, but Trinity is a team without a true #1.  They have been led by Evan Hancock, Keegan Raidt, and Derrick Stauble at various times this season.  Calling a shamrock for the win.

"Team Hunt"

Trinity has the potential to run a perfect score on Saturday.  The question is whether or not Eastern is going to stand up and stop it.  Eastern pulled off the upset last year to win the whole region and will need another performance like that to stop the steamroller in a sense.  At the Trinity Invitational earlier in the year Trinity had four in front of Eastern's #1 Cory Heslin and their fifth and sixth were right there with him, 3 seconds back.   (I fully expect to get a tweet back on that one) Oldham County is comfortably in third led by Tyler Lega.  These three schools could fill up the entire top 20.
