St. X and Assumption Roll Over Illinois at Palatine Invitational

Kentucky's best headed north on Saturday to the Illinois loaded Palatine Invitational outside of Chicago.  This meet is on the schedule of York and its super famous coach Joe Newton.  That begs the question, can you coach productivity when everyone is always stopping you to get a picture.

Assumption, Class AAA #1 and nationally ranked rolled into town last year to win.  This year they did they same thing.  Bailey Davis and Katherine Receveur went 2-3 to lead the charge.  They ran 17:24 and 17:27 on the Three Mile course.  The key to victory was Emily Bean in 9th and Kenzley Defler in 13th with 17:43 and 17:49.  Has Head Coach Barry Haworth said when asked about the trip to Palatine, "The Palatine Invite provided our main Varsity girls with an opportunity to build upon their performance at Trinity, develop our younger girls, and reward the team with a chance to do something fun. I thought the girls ran well, and was particularly happy with the races of Emily Bean and Kenzley Defler, because a tighter spread makes us much more competitive!"

The ladies beat second place Lake Park by 62 points and this is a team that had the overall winner, Kaylee Flanagan run a 16:49 and a top five average of 17:57.

The boys of St. Xavier, winners of the Trinity Invitational last weekend over Carmel traveled north for the first time.  The 1-2 Combo of Connor Sheryak and Sam Lewis both finished in the top 10 to lead the Tigers to victory over perennial favorite York. Sheryak was 6th with a 14:56, while Lewis was 10th with a 15:01.  Their 3-5 rolled in all below 27th place to solidify the victory.

Congratulations to both squads!!!
