Class AAA #1's Assumption and St. Xavier Head North to Palatine

PALATINE INVITATIONAL

September 22, 2012 @ Deer Grove East Forest Preserve in Palatine, IL

Hosted by Palatine High School

Class AAA #1's Assumption and St. Xavier will head north out of Louisville to the Palatine Invitational outside of Chicago, Illinois on Saturday.  This is annually one of the best meets in Illinois including many nationally ranked teams.  This is the first visit for St. Xavier, while Assumption returns to Palatine which they won last year.

The ladies of Assumption, 2011 Palatine champs are coming off a 2nd place finish at the Valkyrie Invitational.  They were led by a 1-2 finish by Bailey Davis and Katherine Receveur with times of 17:46 and 17:47.  Receveur was the top finisher for Assumption last year in 5th place with a 17:36 for the 3 Mile course.  Emily Bean was the second finisher last year, she is coming off a not so typical race at Valkyrie in which she finished 30th with a 19:17.  Look for Bean to find her way back up front near Davis and Receveur.  The rest of the top five, Kenzley Defler and Kate Crawford will all look to come in under 18 minutes.

The gentlemen of St. Xavier won the Trinity Invitational with a first time feat of placing five runners in the 15s for the 5K.  Sam Lewis led the squad last week with a 15:25 moving him up to #1 in Class AAA.  They presently have six of the top eleven runners in Class AAA.  With this race only being a 3 Mile Run, the Tigers will look to place seven runners under 15:20, which is highly possible with last year's winner going 14:34 and 13 runners were under the 15:00 mark.
