Area 3 Athlete of the Week (4/9 – 4/15)
Boys: St Xavier HS 4 x 800m relay team (Matt Blum, Spencer Schardein, Scott McLain and Thomas Davis)
Competing at the Midwest Prep Invitational at Lawrence Central High School on Saturday, the St Xavier 4x800m relay team finished in third place with an excellent time of 7:58.93. Their performance ranks them as the top 4x800m relay team in the State by over twenty seconds, and was only two seconds away from the State Meet record of 7:57.02 (set by Daviess County in 1999) and only one of about three or four times a Kentucky Boys 4x800m relay team has gone below the eight minute barrier.
Girls: Chelsea Brown (Butler HS)
At the Henry County Wildcat Relays, Chelsea competed in and won the 400m run (58.95), 300m hurdles (48.07) and 200m dash (25.87). Just prior to these three events, Chelsea also ran on her school's winning 4x200m relay team. Chelsea's 400 and 300 hurdles times from the Wildcat Relays are currently the fastest times in the State for these events and her 200 time is currently the third fastest time in the State.
