Louisville Cross Country Announces Update to Pre-Nationals Meet

The first men’s race begins at 9:30 a.m. ET, while the first women’s race is scheduled for 10:15 a.m.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville has announced an update to the Cardinals’ Pre-Nationals cross country meet, scheduled for Oct. 13 at E.P. ‘Tom’ Sawyer State Park in Louisville.

 

Under the current scenario, the first event of the day will be the red men’s race at 9:30 a.m., and the red women’s race follows at 10:15 a.m. Following those competitions, the black men’s race commences at 10:45 a.m., and the black women’s race is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Should more teams declare their intent to compete, the schedule would move to scenario two, which features men’s and women’s open races.

 

More than 120 teams having already declared their intent to compete, including 2011 men’s NCAA Championships participants Oklahoma State, Colorado, Indiana, Florida State and Villanova, and women’s nationals participants Georgetown, Villanova, Florida State, West Virginia and Colorado.

The University and city of Louisville will be first time hosts of the NCAA Division I Championships this season (Nov. 17). The city previously played host to the 2010 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships and the Division I Southeast Region five of the last six years, including 2011. For nine of the last 10 years, the Division I championships have taken place just north in Terre Haute, Ind.

Red Men’s Race (Seeded teams with 7 runners per team)                             9:30 a.m.

Red Women’s Race (Seeded teams with 7 runners per team)                        10:15 a.m.

Black Men’s Race (Unseeded with 8+ runners plus Unseeded teams)            10:45 a.m.

Black Women’s Race (Unseeded with 8+ runners plus Unseeded teams)       11:30 a.m.

 

Possible Scenario #2 with up to 30 teams each race (210 athletes)

Red Men’s Race (Equal Seeded with 7 runners per team)                             9:30 a.m.

Red Women’s Race (Equal Seeded with 7 runners per team)                        10:15 a.m.

Black Men’s Race (Equal Seeded with 7 runners per team)                           10:45 a.m.
