Invitational of the South was held Saturday at Marshall County High School in Benton, Kentucky. The meet was won by the boys and girls of Paducah Tilghman High School.
If a team in Kentucky wants to run against a variety of completion this is the meet to run in. There are several teams from Tennessee and Illinois that attend this meet annually. Rossview, Northwest, and Kenwood High Schools make the trip to the Invitational of the South from Clarksville, Tennessee. Carbondale and Harrisburg were two of the teams in attendance from Illinois.
Three meets records were broken at the invitational on Saturday. The runner who shined the most was Sharika Smith of Fulton County whom won the 100 Meter Dash, Long Jump (new meet record) and the triple jump. The closest finish of the day was the boys 3200. James Bowens of Marshall County edged Chris Rice of Woodford County by .01 to win with a 10:12.96.
Paducah Tilghman\'s girls edged Rossview (TN) out 118-115, while the boys beat Henderson County 93-81 for both team titles. The Tornado girls were led by Pam Bell\'s victories in the Shot Put and Discus. The Paducah Tilghman boys only individual victory came from Harrold Ligon in the Shot Put.
