MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State's women's track and field program has been named an All-Academic Team by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The Eagles posted the fifth best team grade point average among the 171 Division I teams honored.

"It’s exciting to finish in the top five nationally," said Head Coach Brent Ericksen, who recently completed his first season. "Our first priority is academics, and I am very proud of our women and the effort they demonstrate in the classroom."

MSU compiled a 3.49 team GPA for the 2011-12 year, tying with Bradley for the fifth highest tally. Ten Eagle student-athletes were named to the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.

The Eagles joined five other OVC schools in receiving the prestigious honor. MSU's women's cross country program has been named an  NTFCCCA All-Academic Team three of the previous four seasons.
