Heuser, Sabbatine, and Zimlich compete at PV Explosion

The 2012 Pole Vault Explosion was held on July 4th under The Arch in St. Louis.  Three former Kentucky athletes participated in the event that has to have one of the coolest backdrops ever for a track event.

Former St. Xavier great Chip Heuser competed in the Elite Men's Division and finished 3rd overall with a vault of 17-00.  Heuser is the best pole vault in Kentucky history and has the #1 overall mark and the Kentucky State Record.

Two ladies competed as well in the Women's Group II.  Former Scott County and University of Louisville vaulter Andrea Sabbatine was second overall on misses with a vault of 13-00.  Sabbatine has the All-time KY High School #1 with a vault of 12-02.  Former Ballard vaulter Megan Zimlich who just finished up her 1st year (Redshirted) at the University of Arkansas was third overall with a new best vault of 12-03.  Zimlich is the KHSAA Overall State Record Holder and was the KYtrackXC.com 2011 Indoor and Outdoor Field Event Athlete of the Year.
